This week in math we spent some time exploring and analyzing 2D shapes. We reviewed the names of many different shapes and talked about their geometric attributes.
Learning Intention:
Geometry - Shapes are defined and related by geometric attributes
I Can:
- sort shapes according to two geometric attributes and describe the sorting rule.
- create a picture or design with shapes
We had lots of fun exploring and shorting shapes based on their different attributes such as colour, size, thickness, as well as their number of sides or vertices.
After sorting the shapes we created shape pictures using pastels and the art technique of overlapping. We had to really focus and remember that in each overlapping space we had to use a different colour!
